Relationships between hyperinsulinaemia, magnesium, vitamin D, thrombosis and COVID-19: rationale for clinical management
"Isabella D Cooper majored with honours in biochemistry with medical physiology, molecular genetics, advanced cell biology, advanced cancer biology, physiological networks (neurology, endocrinology and immunology), proteins and enzyme biochemistry, bioinformatics in influenza, and metabolic biochemistry.
She has won multiple awards in multiple consecutive years, those include the Faculty of Science and Technology Awards, Individual Teaching Award and Group Teaching Award for Medical Physiology, Dean’s List Awards and Biochemical Society Award. In addition, Isabella is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Affiliate of the Endocrine Society, Affiliate of the Physiological Society and Associate Member of the Royal Society of Biology.
Isabella’s PhD research is in hyperinsulinemia and ketogenic sciences. Her work involves human intervention trials and ex vivo work, with samples from research participants. Furthermore, Isabella has developed co-culture ex vivo and in vitro hybridisation cell stimulation experiments, to gain further insight into cellular mechanisms of action.

I just watched this video today and will dive deeper into the BMJ report over the next few days. It never ceases to amaze me how Hyperinsulinaemia is a contributing factor in so many of our 'modern' chronic disease states. We need more people like Isabella working on this research - diametrically opposed to the pharmaceutical model of suppressing symptoms.
I didn't come to low carb because I had a known health issue! Now I realize I was probably pre-diabetic. I'd get hangry easy and needed to eat every 3 hours. I was thinking more about my future. Amy Berger talked about diabetes type 3 and chronically high insulin and I was sucked in and wanted the benefits of a low carb diet.
Listening to Isabella... tells you she is someone who really understands Metabolism... NOT the primary idiots call Doctors.. for me they are morons... but we have to go through them.. I am a retired Physiologist Biochemist..... I will watch this at least 3 times.. and makes notes.. Please thank her from all who lovely detailed explanations.... She is going far... a real star.

Dr. Cooper,
Your research is exceptional and immensely valuable in advancing cancer prevention. As a medical doctor and breast cancer imaging specialist, I fully recognize how crucial metabolic health is in reducing breast cancer risk.
A heartfelt thank you for your dedication and outstanding contribution to this field.
Have been in ketosis for 6 years now , only eat once per day, more energy than I’ve ever had in my working life now retired at 67. Very little carbs and no exogenous sugar as I have also been diabetic for 27 years and without medications for 6 of those years so from my perspective you are correct in saying it is sustainable and all without a medical physician as it is very hard to find an understanding physician in New Zealand that can treat buy diet and not pills.
Excellent presentation. Thank you for clearing up the misinformation on triiodothyronine-3 being low not being a negative indicator when in nutritional ketosis. So glad that you and your team are finally reversing decades of scientific lies, malpractice, intentional distortions, propaganda - with some incompetence mixed in. Not to diminish the rest of the insights you provided in the talk. It was all very valuable in illuminating.
Excellent, thanks. At last, the science fits the obvious from casual observation of how we evolved as a species, and what happens if one reverts to a PHD (Proper Human Diet) as Dr Ken Berry calls it. I'm a fan of Dr Seyfried's GKI for the last 8 years and a dedicated keto-ist as you describe. I'm 78, no meds....BP of a 25-year-old, and I don't snore. As Barry Groves is reputed to have said, "Civilised humans are the only animals clever enough to manufacture their own food and the only animals stupid enough to eat it."
How Ketosis Affects Health and Longevity
PhD researcher Isabella Cooper with Brett Scher (52 minutes)
Published by: Metabolic Mind - 4 Sept 2024
PhD researcher Isabella Cooper dives deep into the science of ketosis and its impact on health. She discusses how it's not just about maintaining high levels of ketones but also about the quality and source of those ketones. Isabella highlights the importance of avoiding unhealthy fats and proteins like soybean oil, canola oil, and pea protein isolate while following a ketogenic diet.

OMG what a level of depth and nuance. Thank you so much for having Isabella Cooper. On a high level, I believe I can follow, but wonder what I can bring from that into my kitchen and life. Such a high degree of individuality. Does her study have insights into what these women were eating? I did strict therapeutic keto to help heal from a Traumatic Brain Injury, over the course of 2 years. My brain and nerves loved it, yet the rest of myself (otherwise healthy female) took a toll, especially in the second year. Now having more protein, and thus negligible ketones, but the rebuilding in progress feels great. Will try to find a middle ground. Thanks for the helpful information!
My favorite topic. Being in a constant fed ketogenic state from birth is how we evolved. I believe it is not only safe, but is required to be healthy. I have been trying to be in constant ketosis since 1998. It is serving me very well. The monkey wrench in this has been not realizing how bad seed oils are until a few years ago.
Animals do not need ketosis (small brain) except maybe a dolphin.
A fascinating interview. Thank you so much. The more info we have from good studies the more validated the keto diet will have in general society for preventing disease. Please keep these coming. Two very clear minded people discussing facts is wonderful.
