If you already "eat a healthy diet", and if you are "already very healthy", there's no point in you being here. People who already know, and have no incentive to change, can't learn and can't be taught. We wish you all the best, in your life journey. If you quietly choose to leave us, that's for the best.
For the rest of us, there is a contradiction in modern life. First it's true that we are living longer, but it's also true that almost everyone suffers long term health dysfunction, CAUSED by our modern lifestyle, the way we are all expected to live.
There is "safety in numbers" but is being like everyone else healthy?
You are part of your country, local community and family, and you cannot escape the influence of local diet, customs and belief systems. Most of the people in your life are not be physically sick. But ask yourself are they healthy? Medical statistics show that's not the case, and you should be able to see the clear evidence of poor health in your own family.
There are two types of diabetes, Juvenile or Type I, and Adult Onset or Type II. Only about 10% of your community will escape the metabolic failures leading to diabetes in each lifetime. It's entirely PREVENTABLE, but it's deeply embeded in our communities.

In this powerful talk, Dr. Andrew Koutnik shares his dual perspective as both the longest-studied juvenile diabetes patient on therapeutic carbohydrate reduction and as a researcher collaborating with Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital, and the University of Washington.
Critically, although that is true, you probably can't immediately do anything to help close family members. You can be an example. But they are likely to be very resistant to any suggestion that they need to make lifestyle changes. For instance a client of OFH, who suggested health coaching to a relative, was told; "Shut up Xxxxxx, mind your own business."
This is completely "NORMAL", but it's not good.
Medical, dental and hospital care, a large part of what we call public health, is a sickness treatment system, it's not the source of good health. Good health is created in your home, at work and in community activity. Good health is the result hundreds of small daily decisions, and for yourself, almost all of those decisions are ones that you yourself make. So to be responsible for your own health. Improve your decision making.
To do that you need to improve your own health knowledge. This site is intended to help you to do that. We all have a great deal of health knowledge of course, but much of what any of us can know is contaminated with propaganda and myth. Re-learning about health is not something you can do in an hour or two. It will take a few months, but don't let that daunt you. It's very doable, the important thing is to begin, and as you proceed quietly make changes in your life. It's possible to make remarkable change in two or three months, and improvements in your knowledge and understanding will continue for many months, probably years.

Adults living in poverty are 1.7 times more likely to be obese.
Cancer 1 in 296 (rising). - Heart disease 1 in 20 adults (rising).
Similar figures produced in 2024 suggest that both overweight and obesity rates have increased over 10 years. There is concern about a tide of type II diabetes, overwhelming the health system. New drugs for weight loss exist, but their use is limited and they are not considered suitable for long term use.
