We live on one small planet. While it may seem big and an inexhaustible source of resources, we now know that's not the case. My car's exhaust fumes don't "go away", they hang in the atmosphere and cause long lasting effects.
Global climate change and decimation of the fish stocks of the sea; melting polar icecaps and prospective oil and water shortages, are warning signals for us all.
We need global rules, rules for trade, rules to protect human life and dignity, rules to protect the environment. Sadly both individuals and governments seek to apply rules to others and to ignore the rules themselves. We have not learnt how to understand and to regulate human activity on our small planet.
We can solve our problems but first we need to increase the levels of acceptance, trust and sharing between peoples across the world. The mutual support that occurs in Online Social Networks, is an experience of trusting and sharing that everyone needs. I encourage you all to join peer to peer networks.
Play your part, join a social network and participate in the conversation. You'll increase your own learning rate, becoming more innovative, and culturally aware. People in Africa, India, Europe and China should not be "strangers" to us. We are all global citizens.
